Design Poster

I created this 10x15" spot color poster for one of my previous courses. The theme of the poster was nothing more than "design". Only the colors white and blue were allowed for this piece and it ended up being my most favorite project I have created. It started out with a repetition of the word design, but then I put more thought into what words I incorporated in the background. From the bottom to the top, I wanted the words to be the steps of the design process. First, you have an idea and you start to plan it out, then you develop an outline and sketch from those ideas. Eventually, you have a solid outline and you add more detail and then you've created your design.

2021 Calendar

I created an 11"x17" calendar for 2021 in one of my previous courses. We could create whatever theme we wanted, but it had to be a single-sided poster that included the accurate days for the 12 months. I wanted to keep a more simple, modern look to it because the focus should be on the months and days rather than the designs. I used emphasis on the 2021 and balanced it by creating shapes on the other side of the calendar instead of leaving a blank space. I wanted to stay in the warmer color tones and keep a consistent color scheme so that it's less distracting. Overall, the use of the design principles and elements helped create an aesthetically pleasing calendar. I wanted to create something functional that I could actually print and people could use in their daily lives.

Event Poster

Post Modern artwork uses a lot of bold, bright colors and contrasting images. It challenged the clarity and structure of modern design. Although, postmodern artwork plays around with text, imagery, and incorporates contrasting elements, it still allows for the viewer to get the idea behind the artwork. In my music event poster, I implemented different fonts and stylized individual letters to create a worn, recycled look. The bright and bold colors allow certain words or information to standout against all the elements around it. Colorful patterns were applied behind some of the text to give some texture to the flat parts of the poster.

Infographic

Infographics display information in a picture-driven format that viewers can easily remember. It communicates data or instructions in a visual way without text. Infographics can be used in personal projects, a marketing report, company brochure, or an event. The first examples of infographics started to appear in the 1700s to improve cognitive thinking. I created an easy-to-interpret poster on how to wash your hands.

Magazine Cover

I decided to make a magazine cover for ELLE. The theme was centered around art, so I wanted to add a creative element onto the cover. I added various illustrative designs and doodles throughout and added that red light to the text and the woman's face. I photoshopped the woman onto a pink background using photoshop and drew some creative elements in Illustrator and transferred them back into photoshop..

Connect Poster

I was challenged to create an 11x 17 inch poster, but I had to include the telephone into my design. I cut out the background using photoshop and went with a one color theme throughout the poster. I chose the word CONNECT to repeat in the background because with the invention of the telephone, people have been able to connect with people all over the world in a faster, more efficient way.

Motivational Poster

I created a black and white poster with one of my favorite motivational quotes. I added some illustrative designs with the banner behind some of the words and played around with the typography used throughout the quote to help lead the reader's eyes and display hierarchy.
